Clarke County Hospital Employees Donate Mittens and Hats to Clarke and Murray Elementary Schools

Clarke County Hospital wrapped up its 15^th year of collecting mittens and hats for local elementary schools this past week. Over the holiday season, Clarke County Hospital staff personally purchase and collect hats and mittens for children who are in need. Items are collected and hung on Clarke County Hospital’s Christmas tree until early January, then donated to Clarke and Murray Elementary Schools.

“Donating to our hospital’s mitten and hat drive has always been near and dear to my heart. As a child, my siblings and I were so thankful to receive warm gloves and hats during the winter months from resources such as this. Because I was blessed, I enjoy returning the favor by giving back to children in our community,” shared Wendy Perlowski, Clarke County Hospital Employee.

“Clarke County Hospital’s Mitten and Hat Drive has been a favored activity of our hospital staff during the holiday season for so many years,” stated Brian Evans, Clarke County Hospital CEO. “We really enjoy helping our local schools, but most importantly, we love knowing that we’re helping to keep kids in our community safe and warm during the winter.”  

“Clarke Community Schools truly appreciates the hats and mittens donated by Clarke County Hospital.  Unfortunately, not all of our families have the resources to provide for these needs.  This is why CCH is so vital to our community and families.  Thank you to everyone at the hospital that donated to this great initiative.  Clarke County Hospital and its employees are great friends of the Clarke Community School District!” exclaimed Steve Seid, Clarke Community Schools Superintendent.

Donations will be given to Clarke and Murray Elementary Schools this month. Teachers and school staff are able to use donated items for children who are in need when temperatures get really cold.
